Scholarship information from FCCJ

Scholarship Money Available - up to 300,000JPY

The Foreign Correspondents Club in Tokyo is offering a number of scholarships to students

First prize: 300,000JPY
Second prize: 200,000JPY
Third prize: 100,000JPY
Special Mention prizes: Varying amounts

An LCJ student won 200,000JPY three years ago

Deadline for application: February 15

Requirements: submit an application (can also be found on the FCCJ website), resume, copy of one’s student identification card, a brief statement on how you would use the money and ONE of the following

Original journalistic article of 800 to 1200 words
Or
Photo entry: A selection of TEN 8×10 photos with a 200-word introduction about what the photos are meant to convey
Or
Video entry 1.5 - 3 minute television story package on one of the topics. Should be primarily the sole work of the contributor although outside sources can be cited as giving assistance.

Topics: (1) New media versus Old Media
(2) What Japanese Youth thin about the future of News in Newspapers, TV and the Internet.
